Always warm growing, tropical and requiring plenty of air movement. Left outside and with no cover during the summer months. Rained on very often which certainly makes the roots go wild. The beauty about them being rained upon very often is that they don't get troubled with fungus or rot especially when the crown of the plant is almost always flooded. I think this happens because the water in the crown or root system never becomes stagnant
