I was disgusted to find the buds on this dendrobium decimated.
Of the three canes in flower, they've had six spikes.
I still haven't located the blighters but there's a carpet of slug pellets waiting for them tonight!
At least it's not a first flowering or all of the spikes that have been eaten!

Oh I can empathise with you on that subject Rachel.it's heartbreaking to wait a year for a plant to bloom and to lose the buds to these little blighters. It seems worse to me than losing them to bud drop and they can be so damned elusive. I hope you get the culprit/s soon.

Just happened to me too!
I had a cattleya whose buds rotted in their sheath last year so I cut the sheath back this year only for the slimy littla bastids to eat them!

I Keep a few dishes of beer dotted around my greenhouse. It does make it smell like a brewery but its amazing how many you can catch. They dont seem to have a favourite lager or bitter work equaly well.

Well worth the de-slugging and at a time when mine do not normally flower.
