I am looking at the possibility of getting a greenhouse or polyhouse for growing orchids in and would like those more experienced than myself to have a look at This One Would this be OK or would it be to dark and not give enough light?

It will depend what type of orchids you want to grow but many types would be ok in it, over summer, it might be a bit dark in winter. A bigger issue though might be how to heat it in winter, a greenhouse might be easier to insulate.

Thanks for the reply SilverShaded. I will be putting whatever I decide to go with next to my shed that is fitted with electric. I would be able to supply power to run both heating and lighting if necessary in winter.

It might cost more to heat than a greenhouse which might be easier to insulate, thats the main difference.

I would go for glass
1.the ventilation is better there are no roof vents in a poly house and heat rises.
2. as previously stated glass will be easier to heat.
3 glass will last longer unless it gets broken polycovers need replacing every 3-4years

Go for a greenhouse the biggest you can afford. If you get really hooked on orchids { like most of us here )
whatever size you choose will not be big enough in the long run.

Thank you all for your input. I think for the time being I am going to use a spare room we have. It is south-east facing and gets a lot of light through the window. On top of that the walls and ceiling are painted matt white so light will reflect well around the room. I will see how my collection goes and what direction it takes before committing to a greenhouse.
