I guess now that I seem to have developed a forum addiction here in addition to my growing orchid habit, I figured I should say hi. Of course, I have already unselfconsciously plastered my face on my avatar before realising there was a special thread for that!

My name's Veronika and I have lived in Estonia (when I was a baby), Israel, USA, Sweden, UK and now came back to Sweden to settle down. I am a biochemist by education and have worked in food law and science. Now studying Swedish and going to start a LLM degree in EU food law the coming September.

In my free time, I spoil my boyfriend, cook (being an amateur chef is my other hobby), travel, enjoy the beautiful things in life (there are those other than orchids, too! :O), read and write. And try to make sure that both, orchids and books continue to fit into our apartment... somehow.

Here're a couple of recent photos.

Aw, don't be disappointed! "Lilith" in Hebrew means "one belonging to the night", and refers, historically to the night owl-like creatures that were the Hands of the goddess Inanna's justice. There is a good reason why people nicknamed me that! ;)

And thank you, glad to hear you enjoy the blog!

I'm not grey haired, have glasses, and have large sideburns. That should be enough to spot me at a show!

So here I am. Most recent hobbies: ORCHIDS :D , fishkeeping (10 years of experience, I'm a moderator of the biggest Polish aquatic Forum (Akwarybka = akwa is polish short name of aquarium, rybka means fish)), biking, art (I'm studying it ;) ), photography, languages, environmentalism.

I've realised recently how well my name fits to me. Barbara means ''stranger'' or ''foreigner''. Translated to one of the languages I like very much it's ''Lahea Atxkxeftu'' (username used by me often); ''The one from the other land''. I'm just very different to all people from my classes...

Do you know what language is it then? 8-)
Well, I'm fluent in two languages by now, I'm also learning another one; I'm at beginner/intermediate level. In the future I want to learn Gaelic and maybe Spanish

Kelo - nope, not that I know of. It's just a black pearl string that I have bought back in USA, and I don't remember the jeweller's name. As you can see, it's a favourite - and I just realised I've managed to post 2 unrelated photos of myself wearing the same dress and necklace! ;)

Here's a more recent one (at a friend's birthday party a few weeks ago, and wearing something else for a change).

Just as a clue. This language never existed in the real world. But it's growing FAST :D

I found this topic, and thought 'why not?'

So here it is a picture of me, on our orchid walk in the Howell Hill Nature Reserve last Sunday.

I know it looks as though I am photographing the grass, but it isn't. I am taking a photo of the clump of Common Twayblade on the bottom right corner of the pic!

Regards,

Francis

Well, I don't even remember if I posted a photo on here... If I did it was a long time ago so I figured an update is due....
Me and my Cattleya intermedia! I love Cattleya's, even my daughter is called Cattleya! And I have a tattoo of a Cattleya labiata flower on my shoulder, for my daughters 2nd birthday.
As for what I do... I will soon be providing things of much interest to most of you :)

*Bump*

I just had a great time and a few giggles re-reading this thread, so I thought I would bump it and bring it back.

Where are all these people now? Somo of you have not said anything for quite some time!

Francis

I'll resurrect this thread - Bonfire night. I'm torn between wanting the weather to stay mild for my orchids in the greenhouse, and wanting it to be cold enough to wear my favourite hat!
Oh and I'm an Artist.
