Oh my god! Haha! That was the ignea I was going for too! Gutted to lose out! Well done on the win! I've been pretty bad recently, I have ordered a Masdevallias Ignea, Encyclia cordigera, Oncidium twinkle (white) and a Bulbopyhllum lobbii x dearei from orchid-shop.eu. I also won a clearance lot of 9 orchids from falconer1211 (heard mixed reviews but have given him a shot since they are labelled as a bit crap anyway!) and also won a huge maxillaria tenuifolia recently. Goodness that's a ton!

Hi, not quite the same one. I lost out on the auction too but noticed in one of the photographs of the plant in the auction that there was another Ignea so I contacted the seller. I expected that it would be offered as a second chance so thought that it would be offered for £22and p&p (my bid)but it was offered for £15 and pp outside of ebay and the plant looks every bit as good as the original listing. The second plant I've had from this seller and both have been good, the first was a Doritis var Alba. As for Falconer1211 I got a Paph Venustrum from him last year and it subsequently spiked but most seem over priced and there are some very mixed reviews, some even linking this seller to another called Margeretmouse .

Oh ha! That was smart thinking :-) I have been tempted by a lot from Orchidman, he seems to have a lot of really nice looking and decent sized plants. I hope it does well for you! I hope the one I get will be half as nice as that looked!

I'm prepared to give these clearance/neglected orchids a shot from Falconer1211, it was £28.99 for 9 plants, so worked out with postage about 4.50 a plant. Some might come round, some not. I love a challenge!! :-)

Yes I looked at a phal Sumatrana from a chap down near Cambridge but the offer I made wasn't accepted. The plant looked as though it needed a repot and possibly some treatment for water or virus damage. I think it sold for the opening bid.

I saw that plant was tempted till I took a closer look at the pictures, did look like it had some sort of bacterial infection. might have been ok if it had been at the end of the leaves where you could cut it off but down near the stem is not good.

at least my phal sogo grape is growing some more roots and is looking better.

bought a Phalaenopsis mariae the other day.

soo many nice plants on ebay atm, must resist urge to buy :)

I don't know where the 13 new ones I've bought are gonna go.... And I keep seeing more! Really need to ban myself from eBay. Like forever!

Just back from the East Midlands orchid show at Radcliffe. I went with the intention of buying one plant, a Restripia pelyx which Burnhams have at the nursery but unfortunately didn't bring any to the show. I ended up buying a Dracula gorgonella, Dracula polyphemus 'hawk hill' AM AOS, Restripia Sanguinea and Restripia Wageneri. Good job the wife was there to rein the spending in.

Hi,

Couldn't stop myself and got a cattleya no ID, actually it was the first ever cattleya I saw in a nursery (Scott's Dales) in gorgeous deep purple and with a very intoxicating rose fragrance.

OldConkerwood I have bought with them previously, both from eBay and their website and the quality of the plants is very good. The Paphiopendilum Complex Hybrid I bought from them is massive for £8 and Phrag. Memoria D. Clemens is problematically large with a flower spike.

Have been selling off some plants of late because my greenhouse is stuffed, then did what I always end up doing, buying more plants!
Bought 5 Masdy's, they were Ruiz, Naevia, Antonii, Manoloi and Planadensis.

Just bought a Dracula anthrocina and charderi and a Mas paeviana. Not quite a purchase yet but will have 8 Restripia waiting for me at BOGA on the 21st November. Then my tent will be full and I'll have to do a "Brian" and sell some off before buying any more. Having said that I did say exactly the same when my number of plants reached 50 and now it is around 130

My other half keeps saying why don't I just buy a bigger greenhouse, that seems too sensible though.

Thought I'll add something in here - again hehe...

To start i will actually say i sold a few orchids... why? because i had 35 plants and my windowsill in my room was terrible and the "greenhouse" was spreading on the bookshelf.
Besides after 3 years i kind of have a crystallized idea which orchids i prefer and love most. These would be paphs. phals. miltoniopsis, beallaras, cattleyas and that's it.

So recently i reached out to some sellers in Poland and i bought for mere £4 a cattleya warsewiczii semi alba - its crazy because i saw it go for £700 on UK ebay. A rather big phrag. Memoria D. Clemens, and from a another seller a rather imaginative cross Paphiopedilum (rothschildianum x delenatii) x pinocchio - which i can't wait to see bloom. Also i bought for £5 a miltoniopsis Maui Pride in Scottsdale nursery. Its humongous! And two cattleyas one no id purple with rose fragrance and a leliocattleya Pink Lady.

If i get any more space im buying only ballaras and paphs from now on...

Just made a hole in the bank balance -- but it's not in the brown yet. Bought two multifloral paphs, Yang-ji diamond and Shin-Yi's Pride.. The 'Pride' is a mixture of Rothschildianum, philippinense, sanderianum and anitum. The 'diamond' is a mix of Rothschildianum, sanderianum and anitum. The anitum puts some lovely colours into the blooms --- very dark black and gold -- so should be worth the patience.

Bid on three plants recently (e-bay) that looked, or sounded, like what I wanted. Can't vouch for the other two (flower-wise) but one arrived with flowers intact ...

Hmmm ... Purp hybrids ...

I just had a surprise 'you've won email from Ebay, completely forgot i stuck a fiver on a vanda. It's a Vanda Greeting Black, from phyto-diffusion, appears to be V. manuel torres x V. Bitz's hearthrob. Bit nervous as to what i'll get as no mention of size etc, and never brought online from anyone but Ray before.

Just ordered Trichosalpinx memor. Hoping it will live happily in the terrarium with my two other south american cloud forest orchids. :fingerscrossed:
