Now, this looks perfectly normal. Until I tell you it last grew a leaf 7 years ago. I have no idea why I kept it. I'm glad I did.

Cool. Allways fancied trying a cycad but never got around to it. Having a go at growing tree ferns from spores at the moment.

I had a similar thing with a cycas revoluta seedling which refused to grow any more leaves for around 3 years. Then I read somewhere that this dormancy can be broken by repotting, so I duly put it into a bigger pot in fresh compost. I was surprised to see that it had an extensive root system despite the lack of top growth. It responded promptly by producing a whole new rosette of leaves. Unfortunately the cold 2010 winter killed it off. So, stick it in a bigger pot and see what happens :)
