Hello! :greetings-waveyellow: I have just joined the forum (I am currently also on the Orchidboard and Species-Specific forums).

I started growing orchids around 2005 with the standard hybrid Phals. Soon I was buying anything that I could find in garden centres that looked interesting, and when I eventually started buying orchid books describing the vast variety of species, I was hooked. I started growing species around 2012, and now I have predominantly species.

I'm limited to apartment growing, but I have a very sheltered balcony and so have a few cool growers which stay out all year. I have mostly small and miniature plants, but occassionally I get a bit carried away. The species I can't grow in my conditions I hope to enjoy vicariously through the members here! :D

Thank you Ed! I think you are referring to Sordibub, Rachel? Yes, I'm still learning to use the DSLR, but hopefully I'll have pics to post, and I'm looking forward to seeing what/how everyone else grows theirs.

Thanks! I think I will have many questions for you with regard to your research - I have dabbled with home flasking and have Bulbophyllum orectopetalum, Cymbidium devonianum, and some Rhynchostele x Oncidium seedlings all grown from seed and now deflasked. At first it was just an experiment, but I would like to do more flasking.

You're far more advanced than I am.
Well done,

Hello Natalie,
Are you the South African from species specific who loves miltonias?
Glad to meet you again :)
