Hi,

I'm Nikki, and I'm an Orchid Obsessive.

I suspect my story is pretty much the same as other peoples, I got given a Mini Phal as a house warming present in 2010, shortly followed by my partner also being given an Orchid, which I then ended up looking after... (The story is on my 'blog, if you are interested in a long read and a few pics! http://www.purplekitchen.org.uk/blog/20 ... obsession/)

I've recently had a few questions (about growth, root health and how to best grow other types of Orchid , having been gifted an Orchid Soc. of G.B. membership for my and my partner's anniversary this year, acquired 4 other types of orchids (2xOncidium, a Dendrobium, a Cattleya and a Miltonia), and as the Soc. have no mechanisms to talk to each other between meetings, I thought I'd see if I could seek out a UK based forum!

I currently have 18 Orchids altogether, Mostly supermarket Phal NoID as well as the ones mentioned above... and I've just bought 4 more Phal. Species Orchids from Malaysia via eBay.

I'm currently thinking about buying shelving from my windowsill! ;-)

Hoping to get lots of good tips & see lots of good pics!

Welcome from me Nikki.

You're right it quickly becomes an obsession and you'll find plenty of help and advice from likeminded people on here

Sorry I missed this post. A big welcome from me. Won't be long before you replace the phals for something more rare!!!!

Welcome Nikki.
Phals are a great place to start but then when you start to look into the family.....
its a bit of a slippery slope.
