It's wanting a Greenhouse full of orchids which bought me to this Forum,
I still don't have one, but it's weather like this (cold, bitter wind and snowing!!!) which makes me glad I don't.... (yet?)
The thought of traipsing 20-50 feet to an isolated greenhouse at the bottom of a garden several times a day/night in this weather definitely doesn't appeal to me
I'd much rather be able to just roll out of bed and walk straight into my grow room as I can now!

And there is me trying to decide how to extend my outdoor growing space. Another greenhouse? Enclose the car port? Too many seedlings that are now growing and wanting their own space. Life's a bitch sometimes

Don't see much snow these days so it is always a joy to see my two greenhouses covered in snow...............it proves that my insulation is near perfect.

I've not had my 'Greenhouse' (well actually it's a 10 x 7 poly tunnel) up for over a year now, and I do miss it - as for its Orchid use, Pleonies in winter, Phals n others in late summer.
having said that I'm moving again- with all the windowsills could dream of in a suburban house and -Yes- a Garden.
Barnie.

PS, Stevek. Had a lovely spike finish last month on the Holcoglossum sinicum- and the fragrance was divine.

Hi Barnie !
I'm thinking of moving too but a Conservatory is a "must have" for me (and the Orchids), I'm thinking attached to the house it should be warmer and no traipsing down the garden to a greenhouse in the snow mid-winter?
So I don't care what state the house is in (it could look like a shed) but as long as it has a great conservatory attached !

Pleased the Holco has flowerd for you and glad you like it.

Beware, conservatories can get blisteringly hot in summer and freezing cold in winter without proper environmental controls.

Thanks for the warning ;)
I'll bear that in mind when looking, especially at the orientation of the conservatory, but doesn't "blisteringly hot" sound nice right now?

I guess all growing areas will have their individual obstacles and need some sort of environmental control whether it's a Greenhouse, grow-room, conservatory, window-sill or even Barnie's poly-tunnel ?
The extra space/room would be great too........ :? which would probably mean even more plants to water?
