
Poppies are some of the easiest flowers to grow. They are one of the first flowers to bloom in spring (April), and can also be planted in summer or autumn.
Poppies grow best in well-drained soil, so they should be planted in a raised bed or container that allows excess water to drain away from them. The soil will need to be kept moist until the seeds have germinated, but after that you can reduce watering if your climate is hot and dry. It’s important not to over-water poppies as this can lead to disease problems later on such as mildew and rust spots on their leaves
